Rechargable Batteries
Before Fall Colors, in one of the threads, there was a discussion of rechargable batteries. I had said that they don't last long enough, and a few of you posted replies that the newer batteries are better. You also posted some of the things to look for. I can't find that thread.
Tonight I went to Wal-mart and I was going to buy a Maxell charger with 4 AA batteries. The batteries were rated at 1850. I also saw Duracel AA rechargable batteries (no charger) rated at 1800. Are these good? Would you buy these and expect them to last as long as regular AAs between charges?

I have 1600 mah rechargeable double "a". They don't hold up as long as reqular batteries. But I've have had them for over two years and have taken over 8000
digital pictures in thier life time most pictures with the flash. I can consistatly get close to Fifty pictures with the flash and the lcd screen on (Camera takes 4 double "a"). So depending on what ya use the batteries for is what really matters.

I'd recommend NiMH (nickel metal hydride) rather than the older NiCad (nickel cadmium).
Keep in mind that these two rechargeables are to reduce the cost and waste for things you use a lot. DO NOT count on either of these for the flashlight you leave in the trunk for years at a time, just in case. They both lose their charge over time.

In the original thread, I suggested Rayovac NiMH AA batteries and charger. I believe their batteries are 1800 mAh. The thing I liked about their 4 - AA charger is that it comes with both AC and 12v adapters, plus it accommodates NiCad's. The charger brand and battery brand do not have to match, as long as the batteries are in this general capacity range. My experience in binoculars and camera is that the batteries last quite well. I don't shop Walmart, out of loyalty to Meijer (headquartered here with stores throughout midwest); but I'm sure many different stores would carry them.

I gor mine from RadioShack just before FC. Actually the thread thar you are talking about helped me decide. It can recharge both nicd and nimh and has a faster time for nimh. They lasted at least as regular batteries. I think i paid around $25. well worth it IMHO.

my experiences have been the same as above...
rechargeable batteries usually dont last as long as nonrecharges.
until i got a new camera with Li-ion batteries (rechargeable). these things seem to never lose charge! they go much longer than any battery of any type that i have ever used.
dont know much about the technical side of these, but if they fit your camera, get them!
