Default Recommendation for pain pills easy on the stomach

I've been taking Ibuprophen since the accident Saturday and it has caught up with me

I've had indigestion and felt like I was going to be sick for a few days now.

Any suggestions for pain pills that will help suppress the muscle aches for a few more days but be easier on my stomach?

Tylenol?

The ibuprofen should be taken with food...if you haven't been doing that, that could be your problem.

Been drinking lots of water? That's important with NSAIDs like ibuprofen.

But I recommend you ask your doctor about this one.

Thumbs down

Ibuprofen and Naproxen are NSAIDS, Non-steroidal Anti Inflammatory dugs. They should primarily be used if the pain is due to swelling (Inflammation) of joints. If that is not the source of pain than Tylenol would be indicated.

If you have to take Ibuprofen or the like, then always take it with food. If you get stomach problems or heartburn, you can use Prilosec or omeprazole to reduce the acid production in your stomach.

Thanks peeps. Ibuprofen is what the doctor told me to take after the accident. I have been taking with food, and I already take an indigestion medication daily.

I'll try more water. Haven't been drinking that much since I've been on the road so much lately.

Time to stock up on pepto I guess.

She said keep taking something until Tuesday or Wednesday. Then try a day w/o and see how bad the pain is.

If it isn't better in 2 full weeks then we need to figure out why... it's been just over a week right now.

Ellen if you have stomach issues, you might need to go easy on the ibuprofen.

Let the doc know you are having trouble with it. Ibuprofen can cause nasty stomach issues in some folks, or just switch to Tylenol to play it a bit safer.

Why not try a topical pain reliever on the sore areas, they typically only last for a couple of hours, but would give your system a break.
