The saleman showed me the Cortex fasteners that are a box of special screws with plugs that match the Azek. It ended up adding $429 to the price to my contractor although he didn't change the contract price. My contractor hadn't used them before and said it was a PITA. I made Reggie remove 4 planks because he changed the spacing on them to try to cover his spacing mess-up. The Azek planks had to be broken up and thrown away and new ones put back down. Good thing there were extra planks to use.
No wonder my contractor didn't mention them....Well at least the screws on my deck match the surface of the deck. No plugs though

I wonder how well the plugs will hold up. It would seem like they'd freeze/thaw in your neck of the woods and pop out, over time.

Could be, Patty. Either way, I'm happy with our deck. Surface stays cool, no splinters as with a wood deck, and best of all, no maintenance except a bit of hosing down.

I've noticed the Azek is much more feet friendly than the travertine was. Softer.

We had a kitchen pantry put in starting last October. It took on a life of its own. It was finally finished last month, a year later! The delay centered around matching the cedar stain of the existing cabinets. A real pain in the butt situation. But, after all the frustration for us, the contractor, and several paint stores, and a cabinet maker it finally worked out.

So, what did we do to celebrate? Immediately jumped back into the fire by starting a total remodeling of an upstairs bathroom.

We spent the past week looking at granite tops, vanities, floor and wall tile, tub glass, light fixtures, and so on. But, far and away, the worst part is taking off the old wallpaper. In some cases, two layers. What idiot used so much glue? Oh, yah, we put that up.

Have fun! I'm glad my own projects are done. Now just hoping peeps in the building here need help with theirs.

Good luck, Dave. We have one room left with wallpaper. Next time around it's painted walls and there will be no more wallpaper ever again, even though I often think it gives a room a "warm look", it gets dated quickly.

No major house projects, but I predict a repaint of most rooms before retirement. did I put my painter guy's number.

I also just finished my kitchen, and have started on gutting and redoing the guest bathroom. The fun (and hemorrhaging) never stops around here.
