OK...couple of pics. The color looks different but it is the same carpet in both rooms (dressing room and TV/computer room) - goldish with brown. Dressing room has no natural light. I'd say the actual color is somewhere between the two.

That looks good. What carpet brand did you go with, Deb? What is it made of?

Thanks...I spent a lot of time researching the brands and styles, but wanted something that would not show dirt as much. This fits the bill perfectly. It is Karastan - 100% nylon. Treasured Heirloom series. Has a number of colors but this one works the best. Not too dark or too light. It goes really well with the sofa I have in the TV/computer room and also with the tile in the dressing room, which has brownish flecks in it.

It will be awhile before my next improvement. I've spent a lot of money the past couple of years with the pipe project, new guest bath, this carpet, etc. Time to recoup and relax! All of it, in addition to making it a much nicer environment to live in, doesn't hurt the value of the apt. I've been getting quite a few inquiries about selling, but we will not move out of here for the foreseeable future. We love it. And with Amazon coming, the sky is the limit. Investors have already scooped up tons of properties in the area, driving a 38% drop in housing availability. Also just read an article that Niche, a ranking website, just placed Arlington as the #1 city in the country to live.

For the life of me I will never understand why people want to work in a busy city if they don't live there. Deb, its no surprise your values are up. I was stuck in 5:00pm traffic yesterday in Novi, 30 minutes from downtown Detroit. OMG. I couldn't stand it - got off the X-way and waited it out at a pub - - one we've stopped at before. The oldest one in Michigan.

^ Mostly because many of those who work in the city can't afford to live in the city or the close-in suburbs. Sad fact of life. We are very fortunate.

We had some work done to our house last year and there is more to be done this year. We estimate that one needs to set aside $10,000 a year for house maintenance. You may not spend it this year but you will next.

What are your thoughts? Is $10,000 enough or not?
