Replacing your tires?
 

I have 19,000 miles on my S. 19,000 miles on my front tires and 8,000 miles on my rears. By the summer I'll probably have to replace my tires. Is there a good alternative to the S0-2?

I ask because while I love the tires, I think that they wear a little faster than they should. I'll probably buy a new set of SO-2s because I love the way they feel, but is there any other tire out there that handles as well but lasts longer?

If you are happy with the S02s, I'd say just get some new S02s.

I run S03s, but that's because they are better in the rain.

I thought about S0-3s for just that reason, but I don't take my car out in the rain. I've only been caught in the rain a few times, so it's really not an issue.

I tend to agree with staying with the S0-2s, but I'm curious if anyone has had any good experiences with other tires.

As Honda commissioned Bridgestone to purposely design the S-02 for the S2000 (hence it's unique rear tire size) there is NO BETTER handling tire for the S2000 than the S-02.

I am at the point of replacing mine soon as well so I am also curious as to what others have to say as well.

Not really true. For instance, my car handles better on my RA1s than it ever handled on the S02s. But a R-compound tire certainly won't last as long as a street tire, which was the other half of the question.

The S03s (in 205/245 size) handle just fine. They are much better in the rain and cold than the S02s, and they remain good all the way down to the wear bars, which was not really true of the S02s.

But all in all, my recommendation still remains that if you are happy with the S02s, stick with them. It sucks to buy tires you don't like, especially if they last a long time!

I've enjoyed my RE050s and gotten extremely good wear. I had two sets of S03s following my first set of S02s and I see no difference in the feel/drive/performance of any of these tires. I'll go with the RE050s again.

How many miles were you able to get from your RE050s?

^^ I've got 7k on them now and they're showing no wear at all. I've never gotten more than 8k or 9k on the rears with the S03s, so I'm thrilled. The handling is fantastic. I often take the car out for "healthy" drives in the surrounding mountains, so my tires get a good workout. ;)
