Default Right Turn on Red Arrow?

I moved to Delaware and there is an intersection where there is a Red Arrow for Right hand turns. I noticed some people sit there waiting for it to turn green and others make a right on red if the traffic is clear.

I looked on the internet to see what the actual traffic law was for making a right on a red arrow and read a lot of conflicting information. But from what I could tell, I'd say in Delaware you can only make a right when the arrow is green.

In NY I don't recall many right turn arrows.

What about your state?

It varies here in Michigan, some intersections have a sign that says no turns on red, others say nothing. We don't have many intersections with right turn arrows near me, hell we don't have many intersections with left turn arrows.

I'd say an intersection with a turn arrow you should wait for it to be green, or else it would be considered running a red light.

In the most pleasant state of MA with the best drivers in the country, you can turn on red after stopping, UNLESS there is a sign indicating otherwise.

I would say if it's a solid red arrow it means do not turn in the direction it points. If its a blinking red arrow, stop and wait till its clear before turning. And if its a normal red light without an arrow, turn right if your state allows it like Michigan does unless there is a sign saying you can't at that specific light.

If I came across one of those I'd do like Dave said.

I believe that unless there is a sign that says no turn on red, you can turn after coming to a stop (that's how it is in Failorida.)

That's probably right. That's what I've been led to believe as well.

Without knowing the local law I would not turn on a Red Right Arrow as it is more specific than a simple red light where right-on-red is the (near) universal practice. No time this morning to look it up in the traffic code!
