My 9 year old son Adam and I have a 3 1/2 hour drive to Fall Colors. We are looking to create one or two CDs to listen to during the drive. We want one CD to be "Car & Driving Music" and the other not necessarily "Car & Driving Music" but music to keep our blood flowing. We like rock and roll, rock, folk, r & b, doo wop, country & western and most any sound except rap. We like music from all decades from the 50s to present. Here are some that we've come up with:

"Car & Driving Music"

Little Honda-Beach Boys (Honelles)
Born to be Wild-Steppenwolf
Six Days on the Road-Dave Dudley
Hot Rod Lincoln
Me & Bobby McGee-Janis Joplin
Little GTO-Ronnie & the Daytons
Maybelline-Fats Domino

"Music to Keep Your Blood Flowing"

Proud Mary-Tina Turner
Bad Moon Rising-CCR
Old Time Rock & Roll-Bob Seeger & the Silver Bullet Band
Crocadile Rock-Elton John
Satisfaction-Rolling Stones
Take it Easy-Eagles
Born in the USA-Bruce Springsteen

As you can see, we don't have enough to fill our CDs. Any suggestions?

How about any & all Elvis and Johnny Cash from the '50s? Early Fats Domino (Blueberry Hill, Ain't That A Shame). The Coasters, Drifters, Gene Vincent, Frank on Capitol from the '50s, the Platters, Carl Perkins, "Come On, Baby, Let The Good Times Roll", Bo Diddly, "Roll Over, Beethoven", "Maybelline", Bill Halley.

two that haven't been mentioned spring to mind..............Sammy Hagar's "I can't drive 55" and Little Feat's "Let it Roll"...............

and PokS2k's suggestion of Traffic with "Glad" is inspired...........I'm taking that with me the next time I go out............I am going to have to get the CD, for I only have it on vinyl.......but that whole "John Barleycorn Must Die" recording would be great on the road..........

Feel good songs, get the blood going:

How about some James Brown! A little sugar and spice

What about some Talking Heads.....Pycho killer or Burning down the house.

Eddie Grant, Electric Avenue!

K.C. and the Sunshine band.

Rolling stones. I see ya have satisfaction but what about "Under Cover of the Night"

Elton John, I'm Still Standing.

Beach boys, Good Vibrations.

ZZ-top , Cheap Sunglasses or Sharp dressed man.

Great and awesome driving songs:

And to me one of the best driving songs of all times,
Judas Priest "Turbo Lover". Although As I am older now and understand a Gay guy in leather singing turbo lover has nothing to do with cars...it still is a great driving song.

Oh And I almost Forgot! Jimmi Hendrixs "Cross town traffic"
Great driving tune.

Also tracy chapmans, "You got a fast car"

Bruce Springsteen, "Born to Run"

I have done 2 things to get older albums on CD. For those that I am most likely to want to keep playing I joined BMG Music Club and am buying cd's. For all the rest (some I may never listen to again), I recorded the LP to CD. Easy if you want to have each album side filed as one 'logical' song, but a pain if you want each track to be recorded as one file.

"Glad" is one of my favorites in the car and it runs into Freedom Rider. I also like the Allman Brothers "Don't Want You No More" from Beginnings. Beginnings also has "Trouble No More" and "Whipping Post".
