as I said to a friend about investing in them.
down to 105 from 170 last week.
They face a multi-whammy.
The first immediate problem is how much will the EPA slap them.
Within the existing legal structure the EPA could whack them with $18 billion in fines.
The second will be they have to recall all of the cars and install new software.
This means the cars will likely suffer performance and mileage reductions.
This will undoubtedly result in huge class actions lawsuits.
I bet the lawyers are just salivating on this one and jockeying for position on who gets the case.
and lastly, at the moment they can't sell any TDI type vehicles in the US and Canada.
To top it all off the German government is pissed at them as well since Daimler and BMW stock are getting hurt as well as collateral damage.
I could easily see Porsche and Audi getting spun of as part of a damage limitation.

French Minister of the Environment is on the warpath as well.
As far as spin outs, my bet is that Lamborghini/Ducati first, then Porsche, Bentley. Audi, Skoda, and Seat probably in round two. Bugatti?!?! Maybe spun out, maybe handed over to the French government (hard to say with Hollande, but with Valls as PM), maybe a version of both.
