The +1 has a Pusser's flask he got at the store in Annapolis. As for rum, we have several bottles we have not opened. Not sure when we will - Bacardi Superior White, Gosling's Dark Seal from Bermuda, and Zaya from Trinidad and Tobago.

Rum has been my standard since the early 70's when I was doing projects in Puerto Rico. My rum for the past couple of years has been Pyrat, an Anguilla rum . I sip it or drink it with pineapple juice and Perrier, and, from time to time, I buy cream of coconut and make pina colada with frozen pineapple chunks. The common bottle is about $25 but they have two more levels that go over $100 for the first and over $300 for the second. I've never had either of them.

Pussers seems to match the government issue rum we got out of Canadian Forces stores during winter warfare training years (and years) ago. Snow and ice did cover the world but it was winter in the Great White North. Ten guys in a tent sitting around a Coleman stove drinking coffee and issue rum ain't that bad! A buddy (Lieutenant Commander, RN (retired)) says Pussers Blue Label is as close as it gets. He was a boy sailor back in the day when grog was still issued.

We've been rum drinkers for several years. The daily go-to is Bacardi and Diet Coke. Our favorite though is Seven Fathoms Cayman Gold Rum. Only place we have found it so far is, surprise, Grand Cayman. When we are able to make it there for vacation, we usually try to bring two bottles back and then ration them only for "special occasions" between vacations. When my daughter was in school on St. Kitts she would bring back a variety of rums (all good). Another of my favorites is Cruzan Black Strap Rum. So far, I've not found a rum I didn't like, although with some I have found my limit sooner than with others.

I recently see that a reasonably priced rum that I tasted favorably last year, Two James Doctor Bird from Jamaica, has been rated highly.

I'm not sure where you looked. I Googled it since it had such a kooky name (and I am drinking rum as I type this). Wasn't rated good at the first site I pulled up.

I did not keep the URL for that article. It was a recent item based on what the author found on Rum Ratings. However, as you found, the rating there is not outstanding. But, it's not bad, either. Maybe I got suckered by a promo. However, I did like it.

Anyone try Bombo or Harrogate at 8 and 10 on this list?
