Is the S2000 your first sports car?

If it is, what made you decide to buy a sports car? What made you decide to buy an S2000? And, now that you've bought it, what do you think of it and sports cars in general?

If it isn't, what was your first sports car? When did you buy it and how long have you been driving sports cars? Tell us a little something about your sports car experience.

Yes, but I have had many sport sedans -BMW 2002, BMW 2002TII, BMW 535i, Volvo Turbo (intercooled)

What made me decide to buy an S - easy - it was only 2 seat convertible sports car I could fit in, and I looked at them all (except for the M-B, which back in 2000 was more of a GT than a sports car).

I am still amazed at the performance level that can be had for relatively low bucks. And you can put $5-10K into it and have a car that will outrun almost anything except supercars and still be a docile streatable car.

Yes. The S2000 was my first sports car. I purchased it as it seemed to meet everything I wanted in a first sports car - convertible, great performance, go-kart handling, and affordability - both to purchase and maintain over the long haul. I bought mine in Feb 2000 and still drive it almost daily - even though I've been very fortunate and able to add a couple other sports cars to the mix over the years. Honda built a terrific car!

After I gave up my motorcycle during the summer of 1971 (I didn't really want to give it up, but I didn't want to spend any more time in the hospital either), I bought a brand new MGB. I loved the car. A Triumph TR-6 followed and then a Fiat X-1/9 and a 1952 MG-TD.

My love affair with sports cars started sometime around 1962 when one of my older sister's boyfriends gave me a ride in his Triumph TR-3. I couldn't see over the dashboard, but the noise, the gauges, the gear shift, the wind and the ride took my breath away. From that time on I knew I wanted a little, British, fun to drive sports car.

Once we started a family, and moved to Manhattan, there was no room for a sports car and so for about 25 years we had a series of Honda Accords. In the 1990s I looked at the Miata and liked it an awful lot, but for some reason I resisted. When I saw the S2000, I was sold.

The circle is complete. I have an old wooden MG gearshift knob in my S2000. My two favorite sportscars.

82 280Z and 85 300ZX, which were not great sports cars compared to my 00 and 04 S2000. I bought the first S2000 in Delaware and compared to other sports cars in this price range nothing even came close. One car mag I read which compared an early S2000 to a Miata commentd that the S2000 would eat the Miata for lunch and wouldnt even bother to spit out the bones. True and the 9K redline, 120 hp per liter and phenomenal handling convinced me it was the best buy hands down. I sold it last year to make room for my Jeep but it will always have a special place in my heart.

When I got married I had a 1970 Camaro. I was having a hard time teaching my wife to drive a manual. She said that she would like an MG. I told her that all MG's were manual, but she said if she had a MG she would learn to use a stick. That was my first sports car a 1971 MG Midget. Than I purchased a 1952 MGTD. In 1973, I bought a Volvo 1800ES. I owned that car until two years ago. My next sports car was a 1995 Merlot Miata. That was a fun car, but after I took the S2000 for a spin in 2003, I knew it was a much more robust car. The S is going to be my keeper. I don't intend to let this one go.

I owned two Fiat Spyders (ragtops) when I was married...must have been in the 80s. No more sportscars until I bought my first S in May 2001. Knew nothing about the car - saw it, drove it, bought it! Current S isn't being driven as much, though. No plans to sell it. It's too much fun.

Technically yes, although I had 2-hot hatches before, an 87 CRX-Si and a '90 CRX-Si
The main reason I bought was
- wanted another Honda
- had to have RWD

The S is my 1st ragtop, so I guess my 1st true sports car, others in the past were mustangs, trans ams and other sporty cars.
Wanted a car that not everyone else had and back in 02 there were not many s2000's to be seen.
