Question Seatbelt warning beeper

I researched how to kill the seat belt warning beeper in my RAV4. Toyota set it to beep about 10 times, then 50 more times real fast. It's very aggravating. (let me say right here that on the street I wear my seat belt and feel naked without it) But my mailbox is a mile from my house on a private road and I don't always feel like buckling back up after retrieving the mail and driving through the gate.
All the advice about turning on the key while holding the trip meter, then in 10 seconds buckle your belt blah blah blah, did absolutely nothing. But the one that worked was advice, with pictures, how to remove the instrument cluster, take apart the circuit board cover, find the little devil making the noise, and KILL IT. It took about 30 minutes, but the silence is golden.
Am I now a felon?

Our '06 Prius has all the bells and whistles, and not a good thing:

-buzzer for driver seat belt
-buzzer for passenger seat belt
-beeper for the backup camera

I found out how to defeat the s.b. buzzers on the PriusChat website in early 2007; printed out the instructions; and they are still warming a spot on my desk....and the car will soon be 4 years old

Maybe your thread will encourage me to actually DO DO DO something about the friggin' buzzers....

The signal clearing machanism on my directionals doesn't work real well.
I actually thought about putting a buzzer in if it's been on for more than 30 seconds just so I won't appear to be

I am sick of the one in the Cayman as well. The 'tricks' haven't worked for me either. I am not driving without a seat belt, it just beeps at me as soon as I start the car if my seat belt isn't buckled. Since the key hole is on the left, I can't start the car and buckle the belt at the same time.

Mine seems to have a mind of it's own at times too.

Maybe Lainey should start a poll "Do you leave your blinker on" for Vintagers.
