Oh, and the VC with the prospective tenants went well, they looked like the online photos I found of them and their accent was as expected, so if it's a scam there must have been some superb live deepfakery tech being used.

We're going through the reference checks now.

We were enjoying dinner last night at a bar with an outside patio, nice breeze, and beautiful evening. But they ran out of Beam. What bar does that? I had Blanton's on my bourbon list to try and ordered one. We had the cutest 17 year old serving us. She just had her birthday and after passing a test was old enough to serve booze. I couldn't believe how professional she was. She could have taught a lot of long time servers how to do it right. She said her mother, also a server, had taught her.

I was enjoying my Blanton's and decided to look it up online. Wow, talk about pricy! When our young server returned I asked her how much my double was. $40. OMG. Then she said, "I almost popped my pants when I saw the price."

Later when she returned with the bill, she said I only charged you for a single because it was such a price difference from the Beam. I should have pointed that out. Our bill was $69 and I gave her $100. Nothing beats a good server in my book.

I'm probably a control freak but I never liked delegating control when you live in a condo.
This is the nightmare scenario.

That was good of her to do that, and she did the right thing given that they ran out of Beam. She must have loved that tip.

I've got a bottle of Blantons sitting in my bar stash here at home, I have never opened it, I like the bottle.

That is horrible, I hope that I never have to deal with that. When I see buildings with those support piers on the ground floor I get concerned, I don't like that design at all. Many Florida condominiums use that same design, including the one building that collapsed a couple years back. I'd rather have a full foundation and walls in those areas, rather than trying to squeeze out a few more parking spaces. I just don't like that design. Being anywhere near salt water and air makes it worse.

All high rise buildings have an estimated life, I've always wondered what they do when they approach the latter part of that estimated life - major reconstruction or demolish it ? A 50 year old high rise building will pretty much have all common areas replaced 1-2 times by that age, how much more money does it cost to extend the life further into the future ?

We've been out in the heat and humidity the last couple of days. Not exerting ourselves, but getting some steps in areas that were a BIT cooler than others. Went to Jamestown RI today. Always a nice little trip. Lighthouse at a state park, another old fort with some nice views, ate our lunch there, and checked out the views in the various spots. Finished up here, for a couple of beers for Rick and a couple of diet Cokes for me. Also ordered some pub chips, but they weren't warm...but they were tasty. We've eaten here before and have been there when some good music was being played.

Their AC was working quite well!!

All good. We went to a local pub and had something they call "beef and greens". So good. And then spent the entire night just listening of to oldies.

I'm getting this out of the auto thread. I'm out of my knee surgery and feeling no pain, yet.
