She's ready!

When it comes to gifts, I'm always telling my son not to buy us things, but they do. I'm going to try again at Thanksgiving...I'm also informing them $ is king for them this year. Though I purchase mostly gift cards and don't spend time shopping, I just don't want to deal with it. I don't think they will complain, I'm going to increase the amount I generally spend.

Yeah, she's NUTS. When it comes to gift cards - don't want them and don't give them. Cash is king.

We always did our decorating before Thanksgiving. I alway do the small bit of outside decorating when the weather is sort of warm. I will not turn them on until closer to Thanksgiving.

Dave it seems like we are married to similar types of women, I can relate to those pictures. Our house is getting crammed with decorations, but it makes her happy . Our cat Rocky is starting to get sneaky looking for ways to get into the tree, we have chased her out a couple times already.

I'm not sure that is a race I need to win, lol. It is getting hard to move around in this place. We also have a lower level of the home that is similarly decorated, plus the outdoors. My wife threw out a bunch of holiday stuff, and we gave some away over the last couple weeks, or it could have been worse.

I do the opposite of most people I guess. I enjoy the Christmas decorations but I don’t like to put them up too early. I put them out in December but like to keep them out awhile. A lot of people like to take them down on New Year’s Day but I like to keep them up well into January.

I don't believe hard fast rules about holiday decorations, everyone should do as they please. Also, once January comes around it is often so frigid that removal of decorations is not a big priority IMO so they can stay out all month.

I've wanted a lighter weight bridge camera for a long time. One that has a great zoom but isn't so heavy and pricey as the big ones with interchangeable lenses. The last good camera I bought was a Canon 40D in 2008(?) but my hands were hurting with arthritis and it became too heavy for me to use. I decided I wanted a Sony RX10 but they were discontinued and I don't want to buy a used camera, if I could even find it.

I ended up buying a Nikon P950 on Amazon. There's a P1100 that has more zoom but it's heavier and the zoom I'm getting will be incredible already. It will be delivered today. I also bought a book to help me learn how to use the camera. I took some photos with my Pixel 7 Pro cell phone today to compare with what the P950 does. It should be a world of difference.

Nikon Coolpix P950 Nikon Coolpix P950

The Nikon P1100 is significantly heavier than the P950. The P1100 weighs approximately 3.11 lb / 1415 g, while the P950 weighs about 2.21 lb / 1005 g, with both weights including the battery and memory card. This means the P1100 is almost a pound heavier, and its larger size is noticeable when carrying it.

I can get some money for that kens but I'm going to wait until I try out the new camera. My hands don't hurt anymore so I could possible move on to a new Canon if it would use that lens. I highly doubt I would though.

That lens is most popular. I don't have one of those in my bag.........yet. It doesn't seem to be a range I need.

IF you decide to buy a new Canon, you can use that lens with an adapter on one of the new mirrorless cameras. Those cameras do lighten the load a bit.

The Nikon may perform better on a nice day vs lower light. I'm anxious to see what you do with it. We know you have a great eye for photography.

Have fun!
