Skin Cancer

I had what was probably a Squamous Cell carcinoma removed from my neck just now. No big deal. Waiting for laboratory results.

Good luck with the mend!

You've been through this many times haven't you, George? I've only had one squamous but a few basal cell cancers. I go for my 6 month checkup this month.

Yeah, I have, Patty. You know the drill. Thankfully, no followup Mohs surgery is required. I need to keep the wound bandaged with Neosporin for about a week, Thanks to you and Windhund for your concern.

Heal quickly! My +1 is a frequent flyer at the dermatologist office. He's had mostly basal cell removed, but one or two that were more a combo. Two surgeries required a bit of grafting. He's getting a re-check next week.

Thanks, Lainey. Yeah, I've had three Mohs surgeries. No fun.

For whatever reason, Moh's was not suggested to him. Maybe due to the location of the lesion. He did fine with the grafting, one on the bridge/side of his nose done and the other the top of his ear which was done by a plastic surgeon.

I had a large basil cell removed from my chin. So glad I caught it. It took 4 cuttings to get it out and 32 stitches to close it up.The hole it left was as big as a quarter. I now see a dermatologist every 6 months.

I, luckily, have never had a skin problem but with a convertible and my like to be outside I see a dermatologist yearly just in case.

I have driven a convertible since 1999, when I got my first S2000 in 11/99, just after it first came out. Living in LA, the top is almost always down year round. I try to be careful and always wear a hat, but I know I'm putting myself at risk. I also see my dermatologist regularly. My last Mohs surgery was in 2005. I've had several minor procedures since. I turned 79 on Christmas and it's a little late to change. If I get melanoma, I can catch it early. I get a lot of exercise and still enjoy my work..What do you all think?
