Default Songs that bring generations together or remind you of a special place and time.

A few of us have been having some fun in a thread "Teen Angel", "Tell Laura I Love Her". It's a thread dedicated to old rock 'n roll/doowop/r & b. We play games, post lyrics and talk about the music.

This morning I got this great suggestion from one of our members,

How about a Head and Shoulders song thread. What was you and your honeys favorite song at the time?
just a thought. Did you ever consider how much old songs bind generations countries and peoples? It's amazing.

He asked me to start this thread. I hope he identifies himself and takes the credit for the good idea. Anyway, here it is.

This thread is about the song that you and your honey called "your song". This thread is about a special song that reminds you of a place and a time. This thread is about anything that any song says to you. Have fun. (Don't forget to check out the "Teen Angel" thread too.)

"It Hurts to be in Love" by _____________(Rob fills this in )

Kathy and I always remember this from around the time we got engaged. We had some times of "testing" each other, but still came together. Now it's 33.333 years later....

"Morning has Broken" by Cat Stevens is another one, b/c it was played at our wedding

Morning has broken,
Like the first morrr-ning;
Blackbird has spoken,
Like the first bird!

"Leader of the Band" - Dan Folgelberg. This song makes me think of my father. His blood runs through my veins. He's not a musician, but he taught me most everything that I know thats worth knowing.

It hurts to be in love,
Day and night,
Night and day.

To know know know her is to love love love her..and I do ....

on another note, when I met my wife of 31 years, she was engaged to someone else. I played Stephen Stills "Love the one you're with" to her till she surrendered.

When my wife and I first started dating a Juniors in HS my theme song was the Rolling Stones "Satisfaction". When we hear it today we both start to laugh.

"Turn, turn, turn...." was it Judy Collins?

I can hum the tune but only a few of the lyrics come to mind....
