Space X's launch of a Tesla Sports Car into space

You really can't make this stuff up. But Space-X is about to attempt the launch of a Tesla sports car into solar orbit. I hope they have full charge in the car. Here is the Live Feed in case you are able to watch. It goes of in about 10 minutes.

That was fairly awesome. Thanks for posting the link, Bill

You are welcome, Sam. Gene tipped me off that the launch was today in the ICE thread.

I am so impressed with what Musk and Space X have accomplished. For me, watching the boosters detach, return to earth and land simultaneously was most impressive. The feed was lost before the main section returned to land on the barge. The Tesla in space was a hoot.

I don't know how Musk can do things like this. The cost is incredible and as far as I can see he didn't do anything that anyone else was paying for. I guess he sees a real financial upside in future missions. I know if I had anything to send to space I'd give him a call.

Remember when the USA had a space program??

That was just wild. Just like to good old days of NASA.

That's just how I felt, Dave. It makes me proud of the human race.

Pretty damn cool

Its a trip to see the rockets come back in reverse and land, not used to seeing that.

Oh we still do, I'm convinced. Its just not publicized like NASA anymore. Chalk it up as another "black project".

The boosters coming back down and landing is most impressive!! Footage of the car in space and loved the "Don't Panic" on the screen.

I do, I miss those days :(

I was really hoping the wheels of the car would start turning.
