Default The Summer Sizzler- a possible Cape Cod meet

Ok, folks, it seems every year I bring up the idea of a summer meet on Cape Cod. Usually I bring this up after the Spring Fling when it is already too late in the year to try to schedule something. So this year I thought I'd try to start early and see if there is any interest in such an event.

What
A multi-day meet located in the town of Falmouth on Cape Cod. The meet would include the usual group drives and dinners, but it would also include visits to interesting sites on the Cape, a day on a nearby beach, a bit of boating and maybe even a trip to the Vineyard by ferry. This would be a lot of fun. I suppose I could do a better job of selling it here, but until I know how many folks are interested, I can't be sure what we can do.

When
July or August, Unlike our usual meets, this would start either on a Thursday night and end on Monday morning or would run mid-week from Monday night to Thursday morning. Either schedule would avoid all of the heavy Cape traffic one experiences on Friday and Sunday afternoon. Obviously working people would need to use some vacation time and you may want to take an entire week and make this meet a part of your summer vacation.

Cost
This won't be an inexpensive meet. Hotels on the Cape are the most expensive in the summer. There will not be any rooms costing $100 a night or less. Figure more like the $250 range. Some of the meals will be at my house and that should save some $$$. Things like the ferry and admission prices are not outrageous, but they will not be free. Before I talk to hotels, I thought I'd start this thread to gauge interest. Once I have some idea of how many folks are interested in the trip, then I can get some hard information.

Please post up here and let me know what your interest is.

I really wish we could make it, but I only have enough time off this summer to head to Maine and spend some time with the kids and grandkids.

It would have to be Thurs to Mon for us, also. Ironically, the +1 and his crazy buds are discussing running another RAGNAR on Cape Cod in May - 200 miles from Provincetown to Hull. I'm kinda doubting it will come off. If it doesn't then going to this is more likely.

The area is a stone's throw for us. We'd partake in some of the activities, let us know what you come up with.

Thanks to those who have responded. Dean, sorry you would not have time to come down. Angela, you'll need a talking to.

Lainey, you ahve to come to everything cause you will be the co-host! J/K.

If I can get the Head Chef, the rest will follow. Imagine carrot cake!

Deb, tell Vito to take a break from running. he can swim to Martha's Vineyard beside the ferry and fight off sharks for exercise.

I've never been. I've seen most of Massachusetts, but never the Cape Cod area. I have colleagues who have retired on the Cape, and I would like to visit them sometime. Depending on when it happens, I might be able to make it. I don't know whether Chris could get off from work.
