Teach for America

My youngest daughter is a teacher and she switched from teaching normal classes to teaching kids with severe reading disabilities. She gets much more job satisfaction and her biggest complaint is the position is one that's always out on limb when it comes to budget cuts because of the student to teacher ratio.

If his first choice is the Mississippi Delta I'd put the odds really high that he'll get that choice. They have a big need & generally not many people want to go there.
My sibling is in the program right now, it is a good program but absolutely not for everyone. I hope he enjoys it!
If he has any questions let me know & I can get some input from my sibling.

Well, he did not get accepted. Not sure exactly why, since there was not a specific reason given. Needless to say, he and we are disappointed. But hopeful he will move forward and find something else. It's been a long road to this point, so we don't want any more setbacks.

Best of luck going forward! It is a really selective program, no shame in not getting in.

Well, every cloud has a silver lining. He has been offered a teaching position in Dallas. He also interviewed for a program in Baltimore similar to TfA. So we'll see what happens. The main thing is he passed all his courses and is graduating Sat!!
