The invention, if you will, of this sex button, stems from differences between guys and gals.
Japanese can be very subtle. You don't want to loose face.
For example, lets say you want to listen to the radio. You don't just say "Do you want to listen to the radio" because I might say no. So, instead, you move the radio close to the plug. That way I will see it and realize you want to listen. If I agree I can say "lets listen". If not, I just remain silent and everyone keeps face.
