Those tunes we grew up with on AM radio
there sure are a lot more people playing and singing on those records. Some of them even have orchestras playing behind them.
I thought they had all been remastered.
We've got a couple of new oldies stations with 50K watts behind them that have started up in the last couple of months. Whether it's rock & roll, R&B, easy listening, Motown, whatever there's just a lot more music in the music than I remember.
Of course in my S they pretty much still sound the same.

My first AM radio was a transistor radio given to me in 1957 from my cousin who worked at Westinghouse which made them. It was about 3" X 6" and picked up WCAU Baltimore, my home town, with perfect clarity. WCAU played the hottest hits of that time from Elvis, Buddy Holly, Pat Boone, Little Richard, Ricky Nelson and all of those old guys my grandkids never heard of. Drove my mother crazy as I played it morning, noon and night. I still love it.

I'm finding out this past week with my new AP1, with factory radio, that, in my area, there is DARNED little music AT ALL on the radio these days - AM or FM. It has become a top priority to get my iPod working in the SPA, and hopefully XM as well. Probably another trip to the body shop to get the stupid XM antenna painted.

Are they independent stations? All we have here (Orlando) is the Clear Channel crap. They play the same songs over and over. And I can almost set my watch by "Free Bird" being played.

WABC-770
Scott Muni-Scottso on the radio
Bruce Morrow-Cousin Brucie
WINS-1010
Murray Kaufman-Murray the K and His Swinging Soiree featuring the Murray the K dancing girls (the Ronettes)
FM Radio (a little later)

WCBS-FM
All oldies, all of the time
That was who I listened to growing up in Metro New York.
Today I mostly listen to:
WCBS-News Radio 880
Give us 22 minutes and we'll give you the world.
Funny thing is I started on AM radio, and 45 years later I'm still listening to AM radio.
