In the S2000 market segment, the Porsche Boxster and Nissan 350Z both have electronically controlled throttles ("drive by wire"). I drove a MY 2000 Boxster with this system and felt it was nicely setup.

Jim, please correct me if I'm wrong, but one detriment to the 350Z system is that it does not allow rev-matching under braking. This is a common technique for smoothness when decelerating into a turn, but I have read that the electronic system in the 350Z does not allow throttle application when the brake pedal is depressed. That would be a deal killer for any car I wanted to buy.
