Tired of robocalls??? finally
So you know those robocalls for the power company or the rug cleaners...
the ones that spoof their phone number to be a local caller so you will answer it?
You know, those A-holes???
I don't like virtually everything Ajit Pai has done since appointed but.... he finally redeemed himself.
He ordered phone companies to stop this in 2019. As in this year.

I'll believe it when it happens. With Comcast we get 4 or 5 a day.

Not only do I get the local spoof calls, I also get them from my own business line- like I’m calling my self!

We have to have a land line, for reasons I won't go into here. So last year I bought an A T & T phone with Smart Call Blocker. That phone is $59.99 on Amazon right now, and you don't pay any monthly fee for it, just buy the phone. If you call me and you are not listed in my phone book, my phone will not ring. If you are a robo call, I never hear you. Ha ha. If you are legitimate and human, the phone will ask you to say your name, then the phone will ring and announce what you said. I can choose to answer, or let the phone take your message. You can look at the calls you missed at any time and see the number and how many times the phone never rang. We used to get several robo calls every day, and jumping up to grab the phone pissed me off when it was a sales call. Guess how many times that has happened since I got the phone? ZERO. Not a single one.
ps. I don't get a kickback from phone sales.

I have Comcast so the name appears on the all the phones and also on the tv if it is on. We are constantly getting calls that are the names of cities, some local, some not. They vary so much it does no good to add them to a blocking list. As yet there is no way to block the ring - - that would be a great feature. I might have to look into the smart phone; does it come with additional phones? We've got 4 phones that can answer our landline.

We do not have a land line anymore but I get them on my cell. I don't answer any call that does not have a name in my contacts. I feel that if it is important they will leave a message!

I didn't give you the model number because there are more than one, depending on how many phones you want. Ours has two phones, and I know there is a three phone model and maybe a 4 phone one as well.
