Our land line phone has a feature that we set to only allow it to ring from numbers that are stored in it. We do check it once daily.

On our iPhones, we have an app called RoboKiller. Works great. All calls from numbers in their database go to voicemail. Most terminate at that point. Other calls are answered and sent to a tape that gives the caller a hard time. Mine asks how the person got the phone number and why they did not vote for Hillary. Those calls are recorded. It's hilarious to listen to those recordings.

If you have an iPhone, AT&T has an app that blocks spam calls. It's free to download and use. When a spam call comes, the screen simply says "Telemarketer call".
