Tomcatt Run 14 - June 14 - 16, 2019
The Tomcatt is named in memory of Tom Curda (aka Tomcatt) who passed away May 24th, 2006. Route 26 was his all-time favorite driving road. This year marks the 14th anniversary of his passing. This meet is very special to many of us as it combines two of the best thing about S2000 ownership:
Friendship: Many of the friendships made at the Tomcatt have continued throughout life's twists and turns and have transcended the actual ownership of the car. Everyone at the Tomcatt meet is a friend. The Drive: The roads of southern Ohio are full of twisties and elevation changes; perfect for the S2000. You will drive through rural areas complete with rivers, forests, farms and covered bridges. The drive starts with the run up Ohio Rt. 555 to get you warmed up and ready for the afternoon's fun. Route 26 from Zamesville to Marietta, Ohio (previously one of Car & Driver's 10 best drives in the USA), is the main attraction. This is a spectacular roller-coaster of a road. The drive takes about 6 hours, and covers about 215 miles. There will be a lunch break and a stop for gas. If you like to challenge your car and yourself and you enjoy the sound and feel of VTEC, this is the drive for you! If you like to have fun when behind the wheel, this drive will not disappoint. Expect to drive the way the car was meant to be driven! Great People, Great Car, Great Time! It may be a bit early but it's never too early to start planning for great times with great people and great cars. I just called the hotel a minute ago and they are doing an over night maintenance and he could not make the reservation. I will have to call back at another time, when their system is up. As I have going to this meet every year since it was called the Buck Eye Run, I plan on being there. As I have stated before: It is one of my favorite meets, because for me the drive out to Marietta and back is almost as fun as the drive it self. Except on the way home last year when I set my Garmin GPS up to take the shortest route home, and to avoid unpaved roads. It had me turn east on a road that went for several miles before it became an unpaved road. Then it turned into tire tracks though the woods. There was NO PLACE to turn around. It had rained a few days before and there were places that I just hoped that I would not get stuck in the mud, as I had no mobile phone service in the middle of no where in WV. I have not been that happy to see pavement when I made it though since I landed in Warsaw in a flight from Budapest on a Malev Tupolev 154 (The Soviet version of the Boeing 727) on a rainey night when I wanted to kiss the ground when I got off of the plane.
