I've watched a bit of it live on the news. It seems like a really, really cool thing to experience if you are in the area of totality. Our own area was supposed to be about 60% or so, right now it looks a bit dark outside like a storm might be approaching, but that's it. We also had quite a bit of cloudiness, so perhaps that has something to do with what we aren't seeing. I don't think I would ever spend $ or vacation time to travel or view an eclipse, but I should be retired by the time the next one rolls around in 2024. Hopefully, we'll have a bit more to see in our area then.

I can say our birds were going crazy this AM. Not sure if that had anything to do with the sky "falling." I went home at lunch and for the first time ever I had an empty hummingbird feeder. I usually dump out more than they take in, since we have so many flowers for them to feed on. Probably just stoking up their little tanks for the flight south...

We had 76% in Napa. But clouds covered it most the time. Did glance at sun when it was almost invisible in the fog, and saw the eclipse. Good enough for me.

I looked up, saw something, and then looked away. If I had not timed it, I would not have known anything was happening.

I watched the Weather Channel coverage. As fate would have it, at 14;42 EDT which was our max time we had a stray thunderstorm pass over. Looking out of our four season room facing North the only visual effect was the UV light making the woods behind our house a bit brighter green than normal.

^When we got to a little park in Excelsior Springs, Missouri it looked like a normal day but once we put on our glasses we could see that the sun already had a tiny ellipse on it.

^We had 2-1/2 minutes of totality. So cool. I'm so glad the rain stopped and the clouds thinned out.

^There were about twenty other people watching the eclipse in the little park.

Our flight out of Kansas City, Missouri is at 7:10 pm.

We had clear skies for the most part up to and at peak. Then not long after the clouds rolled in and we got some rain. But my colander worked out pretty well.

Wow, Patty! It really did get dark during the eclipse. Thanks for posting those. Glad the weather turned out so great, as well. Also, looked like a nice viewing area. Did you get to see any lightning bugs?

I quickly grabbed these images of the eclipse crescent with my iPhone that were filtered through the leaves of a maple tree over our driveway, just at the peak of the eclipse here. (78%) I thought they were neat!

No lightning bugs. Our flight from Denver to Kansas City, Missouri was over an hour delayed so we didn't have any extra time to look for some. We really did luck out on the weather. It wasn't even uncomfortable while we watched the eclipse.
