I hope he does well as he should have great genes. I met his Dad, Davis, great rider for 7-11 and a real gentleman. His Mom, Connie, won an Olympic Gold Medal in Cycling. Tragic accident yesterday for Valverde. Out of the race. There should have been hay bails at that curve especially since it was wet and that curve was insane. The metal barrier punctured him in the side and he broke his kneecap. Big loss for the Movistar team. Roll was pissed and so were the other commentators.

I wince whenever I hear about knees.
Apparently a number of riders went down at the same point along with one of the motorbikes.

It was a serious pile-up.

The thing that's grabbing my goat is that Valverde is out because of his crash on Stage 1, leaving Quintana with zero help/protection.

Yup, his chances went to hell in a hand basket.

Unbelievable Taylor Phinney is racing after seeing the scars on his leg.

Did Peter Sagan move into Mark Cavendish and elbow him in the finishing sprint at the end of stage 4 today? Cavendish's injuries may take him out of the tour. Apparently experts disagree, but it could result in Sagan's expulsion from the race this year. Hope not...

Looked that way to me. Maybe, not an elbow... but Sagan blocked any move on his right. IMHO.

Cavendish should not have tried to squeeze by with not enough room. He was in Sagans space and although it looked like he got an elbow, racing closely at 45 mph is very dangerous. Lots of this happens in the Tour. Part of the race. At least Sagan sought out Cavendish after the race and apologized.
