Soft code: (e.g. Jens) Don't attack when a favorite has a mechanical problem. Wait as a gentleman temporarily until he is back.
Hard code: (e.g. Bobke) Take immediate advantage and attack when a competitor has mechanical trouble. The goal is to win at all cost.
I like the traditional collegial version. What do you think?

Yeah, and in the 2010 Tour Schleck's chain derailed on a mountain slope, so he had to stop and put it back on (minor mechanical problem); and Contador immediately attacked him to win the stage and the Tour. Many other such examples through the years. Many fans held it against Contador for years, despite the fact that he was relieved of his win, after failing a drug test. There are also examples of the leaders' shutting down the peloton to wait for someone with a temporary problem. There is no official rule, just an optional courtesy showing respect for a ranking peer rider

Man! Did Marcel Kittel kick some butts, at the end of yesterday's stage. Like everyone else was in a lower gear.

Jean-Pierre Sarti: Before you leave I want to tell you something. Not about the others, but about myself. I used to go to pieces. I'd see an accident like that and be so weak inside that I wanted to quit - stop the car and walk away. I could hardly make myself go past it. But I'm older now. When I see something really horrible, I put my foot down. Hard! Because I know that everyone else is lifting his.Louise Frederickson: What a terrible way to win.Jean-Pierre Sarti: No, there is no terrible way to win. There is only winning.

Great stage. Froome didn't look as invincible as he usually does. I like Froome but I think the rest of the race will be more interesting now that he has some serious competitors. Surprised to see Quintana struggle and Contador is done.

Hey Ray,
My Giro MIPS helmet is waiting for me at the post office.
Then I just have to get my fat arse on a bike.

Great choice. Giro is giving me a 30% crash discount on a new MIPS helmet due to the crash I had. That helmet saved my life, I hope you never have to experience what I did.
