Default Trips You'd Like to Re/Take

I've been posting in a thread about favorite places visited. I included a couple in Argentina (Iguascu Falls and Bariloche). Iguascu Falls is in the jungle of northern Argentina (on the border with Brazil) and (San Carlos de) Bariloche is toward the south of Argentina at the foot of the Andes Mountains. The falls are incredible, with many toucans and other birds flying around. Bariloche has many lakes - just gorgeous scenery with the lakes and the mountains. It is an international ski resort, also.

This started me thinking (again) about the places I'd like to visit. The list is really long, but one trip I'd like to take next is a river cruise from Paris to Normandy. It would combine history and art and good food/wine. The +1 and I both like the Impressionists. He has painted a couple of Monets already. This trip passes through Giverny, where Monet had a home and the gardens he used has his subject for many of his paintings. It also includes a day trip to the Normandy beaches, the famous ones from WWII. He has not been there. It would be a great trip, not to mention all the sights of Paris (he's not been there, either), which is a city I never get tired of visiting. The only issues are time and money.

I also want to do a sailing trip of the fjords of Norway, a rail trip through the Swiss/Italian Alps, Australia/New Zealand, the Far East, etc, etc, etc. What's on your wish list?

I'd like to see the Taj. I gave up on europe long ago but I've never been to Poland and I understand the castles there are incredible.

I'd also like to see Pitcairns Island, why I have no idea.

That you do! We had a great trip out there.

To answer Deb's question, we don't really have the travel bug. No real desire to visit foreign lands. I would like to have the time and $$ to travel anywhere we felt like right here in the USA. After that trip, maybe a trip to the Caribbean to sit on a beach and recuperate.

I've been reading up on trans continental car and motorcycle trips. I think that would be a hoot. Take off a year and drive from Boston heading northwest through Canada to Alaska and then down the west coast through California and Mexico and then down the coast of Chile. Shoot back up the east coast through Argentina and Brazil. Reenter the US in Texas and drive north east back to Boston.

^^ I'm with Conedodger on that particular Edelweiss ultimate high passes motorcycle trip. I've done many parts of it by car. There is another Alps trip called 1000 km Traumstrasse Europa / Seibert - from Vienna to Nice, France. We've done two parts of the three by car back in the 1970s. Unfortunately, these are very expensive trips now, compared to the 1970s. That is one I want to complete and do again. Also, I want to do New Zealand by motorcycle.
