If I remember how Billman put it when he bought his 17, it's like a luxury car-truck, or something to that effect.
I think my friend may have jacked his Tacoma up and installed bigger tires. It could be that he caused the ride to be even harsher. But that said, the Ridgeline offers a more comfortable ride with more luxury features at a lower price on the used market, based on my initial observations. The Ridgeline does have a smaller truck bed, however and lower towing capacity.

Another vehicle to consider which is similar to the Ridgeline, only on a larger frame, bigger brakes and towing capacity is the Chevrolet Avalanche.

My friend owned a Ridgeline. Very nice car like vehicle with a nice bed and storage. He called it a grocery getter and never took it off road. I also like the Tacoma mainly for it's off road capability as we can drive on our beaches and surf fish. Another buddy has the Nissan PRO 4X. I like it better than the Tacoma and that model comes loaded. Great on the beach or off road and a comfortable ride. It's about the same size as the Tacoma.

I've golfed with a couple guys who pretty passionate about theirs although I don;t know if hey ever towed with them.

They had this recently on bring a trailer, it was on the wrong coast and the price went rather high, but it could tow anything you wanted, including artillery.

The guy who bought my Ford Expedition three months ago just laughed at the 175,000 miles on the truck as he been running a F150 with the same 5.4V8 engine in the 300K mile range. Bought the Expedition for his wife, he still driving the F150.

This brings us full circle to pickups vs. make-believe pickups like the Honda Ridgeline. No frame, anemic (practically non existent) towing capacity, etc. Probably great for bringing home mulch from Home Depot though.

Bill I know how much you love SUV's but you can pick up an older GL450 or 550 which can tow 7500 lbs.
T0ns of horsepower and torque even from the little 450 at 335hp /339 ftlbs.
sort of like this

Wait a minute, that is not a proper pickup, looks like a grocery getter, or something that you would take to The Home Depot or something.

My dad has had a few GL's, they're a really nice SUV, I believe he made quite a few Home Depot trips in his. We've both got Land Rovers now, mine is a lowly LR4 and he's got a full size RR. Pity neither of them are as good as an Expedition.

I'm sorry Sam, but if you have all of those froo-froo vehicles, you had better got get a real truck. You know an Excursion would be a one, or maybe a Silverado, I think that those trucks have more macho names, and a good body on frame squeak machine is much better...much, much better. The difference will be huge, and you'll be able to tow a semi, I could just go on and on.
