Valentine Stopped Working
My Valentine 1 radar detector does not power up anymore. In any of my cars. WTF? This is not the kind of quality I expected when I bought this thing. You can count on 10 fingers the number of times I actually used the thing. Has anyone else experienced problems? If so, how are these folks on warranty?
I've never had any problems with mine, and I don't treat mine particularly gently.
As has been said, check the fuse and if that's not it call the company. They're supposed to have a very good reputation.

Not only should you check the cigarette / accessory fuse, but there is a fuse in the Valentine plug in. Simply use a flat-head screw driver and push down then rotate the metal contact and the fuse will be visible.
I purchased my Valentine nearly 10 years ago and have used it daily without any issues other than blowing a fuse in the fuse panel.

Carmen, did it quit when you tried it in your new car? When I got some new car, (don't remember now if it was my '98 Odyssey or my '01 S2000) and I plugged in my old reliable radar detector, it quit working all together. I always wondered if it got used to having the same power supply and then freaked when it had new juice. I had to get a new one, in any case.

Valentine 1 has a great reputation for customer service. I remember a friend of mine called for tech support a few times, and Mr. Valentine actually answers the phone occasionally! I think his name was Mike, but I could be mistaken.
I've had my V1 for about 3 years, and I've even opened it up and hacked at it. It's still working great.

The first thing that popped into my head was Darlene! Obviously, I don't own one of these.
