Default Veterans Day

Lots of doings here in DC for the weekend. Of particular interest to Gene is this:

"Vietnam-era helicopters arrived and were installed on the grounds of the National Archives in time for Friday's opening of the new Remembering Vietnam exhibit.

The helicopters, provided by the North Carolina Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association, arrived after dark November 6, and were offloaded with cranes and moved onto the lawn, where they will remain through opening weekend. The public is invited to tour the aircraft and speak to members of the association who were all pilots of these types of aircraft during the war."

The display includes the Bell AH-1 Cobra, Bell UH-1 Iroquois and Bell OH-58 Kiowa.

Don't forget that on November 10 we also celebrate the efforts of Samuel Nicholas at the Tun Tavern in Philadelphia in 1775 for the founding of the United States Marine Corps. This year is the 242nd birthday.Three cheers for Samuel!!! Semper Fi!

Too bad they couldn't fly them in! Thanks for this info, Deb, though I can't make it to DC this weekend.

Remembering all the Vets and thanking them for their service. Without their sacrifices we would not be enjoying the wonderful opportunities we have in this country.

If I ever remembered to use Lowes vet discount, pinch me because I got my memory back.

Dave you just have to register online and every time you use your Lowe's card, even for online purchases, it gives you the 10% discount. It only takes about 10 seconds for them to verify that you are a vet.

I miss my Dad, he was a WWII vet for the Canadian 8th Army.
