Default Veteran's Day

Veteran's Day is coming up. Our small town has built a lovely Veteran's Memorial, and offered folks the opportunity to "purchase" a brick in honor of, or in memory of a veteran. My sisters (4) and I bought one for Dad. The names were put on the bricks recently. Formal dedication of the memorial is on Veteran's Day. I hope to attend. Dad would be pleased.

Very nice, Lainey.

I'm sure that your Dad, and your Mom, too, would both be pleased.

I think that's an outstanding way to recognize your dad. Also, I applaud the town for erecting this memorial that recognizes all vets.

Thanks, all.

The memorial is very nicely done, well lit, some steel benches for each branch of the service for those who wish to sit a while. I'll take a few other photos at some point.

It was 12 years in the making. Built with the same type of stones as the town hall, the library and a local church. I had forgotten that the memorial has already had it's dedication but I believe there is a Veteran's Day ceremony as well as they were just adding the names on the bricks.

No mail on Monday, November 12, is the only attention most will pay to this. Other than government employees who will get a day off.

1100 Paris tune (GMT/UTC +1) on November 11 marks the time of the Armistice 100 years ago in 1918. That will be 0500 EST (GMT/UTC -5). Not exactly the time for a beer so I'll put a decent slug of navy rum in my coffee.
