We dodged the raindrops on our tour of the Wash National Cathedral this afternoon. It was very interesting. I was especially wanting to go after the Notre Dame fire. Still quite a bit of repair work left to be done since the earthquake (of 2011!). The difference between this cathedral and Notre Dame is that the French gov't will be subsidizing that restoration. The cathedral here depends on private donations. So work takes a lot longer. One cool window (other than the three lovely rose windows) depicts the journey to the moon. And right in the middle of it is a piece of moon rock!

The wife and I will be in NYC and Brooklyn next weekend. We're newbies to the area and hope to do well with a minimum expense along with some great tourism.

The family is coming down to check out the new house today and celebrate Mothers and Grandmothers day tomorrow. We are blessed to have such a wonderful family.

Our son stopped by with cards & flowers. But for the most part this is how I spent the weekend. I have to replace the water pump on the MG. Yesterday I pulled the radiator; more to do. After 60 years it decided to fail this week and on the same day my John Deere died. I bought a near identical one years back to use for parts since its 26 years old. I switched starters after finding the bendex snapped in half. I'm almost afraid to try restarting it.

You know how to have fun, Dave.
It's a miserable weather day here. Rain and 43 degrees. Feels like 37. Not a nice Mother's Day. I puttered around a bit, granddaughter stopped by for a little visit. , son and daughter in law are working. We had a few nice days in the last week, I guess we used our limit for a while. Another very unsettled weather week coming up.

^ Geeee Lainey we have a heat wave here. It is 52° and raining. Update on the mower. "Success" I'll need it when it stops raining. 1/2" shaft in starter snapped in half, thankfully the swap worked, and it saved me over $200 just for the part. Now I can get back to the MG. We have a meet next Saturday and the weather is forecasted to be in the 70s. If I can get it done this week, then I can sort out any issues before the PA trip.

This coming weekend will be a nice one with family visiting - sister and her hubby from FL and niece (sis's daughter) and her hubby from NC. Bittersweet, though. Sat would have been Mother's 97th birthday. And Mon will be three years since my sis's son died way too young.

We are having dinner Sat at a fave Lebanese place with everyone, including bro's son who lives here w/wife and adorable grandnieces. Ten altogether.

Took my bride golfing today.
The impending threat of rain chased most folks away but we had dry if chilly day.
apparently I forgot how to golf and she beat me. it would nice to be noble and say i did iton purpose so she could win...
but I just sucked today.

Thanks Mike. If I had to call the dealer I know it would have been at least $300 and 3 weeks, as I stopped to get a couple propane tanks filled there about a week ago and he had at least 40 Deere's waiting for repairs. (All mowers work fine when stored, then winter comes, and all mower say its Spring time and time to stop working properly).
