Surprise parties are the best. Our kids pulled one off for our 50th anniversary and it was a 'total' surprise for us when we walked into the room at the pub.
^ I found out from my swim buddy that there was Half Marathon in Annapolis (Annapolis Running Festival) on 21 March. He was running in it. I might consider it next year.
Saturday I will be going to a birthday party for my first mother in law. She will be 95 next Tuesday! With it being Easter and the party I will have my CA daughter and her girl friend plus my son and his family here. I will be glad when Monday gets here.
We have our son and two of the three grandsons coming for Easter. Oldest has gotten into oil painting and I have dozens of canvas and art supplies I am hoping he will be interested in; if not, they and dozens of frames are going to a local art colony. I will continue to paint but I have so much I know I will never use I'm unloading now.
Dave, does your grandson have some of your artistic talent?
Maybe one of my granddaughters did - but not too sure about him. This was his first one that he did about a month ago. Really, who knows. We all have to start somewhere. I really hope he continues at it. Great kid who fell down the drug hole but has totally changed his life and doesn't do drugs, drink, or even gamble .... been a couple years now. He's been a very positive influence on his youngest brother who's been in trouble a few times.
Saturday was a day of concreting to finish the stormwater trap in the paddock. 90+ degrees and 70% humidity, I was wrecked.
Sunday was a 200 mile drive to our son's college to meet his girlfriend (argh! We're at that stage now!) and take them out to dinner.
Monday was a 400 mile drive, first 100 miles further up to the North Shore of Auckland for our daughter's post-op follow-up consultation (she's healing great), then 300 miles all the way back home again.
This coming weekend I'll take it easier and do some fencing work, weather-permitting. Might be heading to an Easter service as well, not sure yet.
