Reading through the other high school threads tonight I got to wondering what everyone here was like in high school. Were you a rocker, a loner, a greaser, a prep well you get the idea!

Class radical - voted student most likely to face a firing squad. I was also the only student to negotiate a waiver for the phys. ed. requirement. (Actually, I think that the school admin. was more concerned that the phys. ed. teacher would end up in jail if I continued to attend class.)

I didn't get voted anything...not sure anybody knew who I was I was a nerd...not one of the really smart ones, but a nerd nonetheless.... and I blended into the background (wallflower, I guess, as described in the "where'd you go to high school" thread.

I was almost afraid of my own shadow, most of high school. I was extremely shy. It was the worst time of my life and I was miserable. Although I had a few friends, most of the time I would hide from the masses. I'm so glad I grew out of it!

Same here! Waitresses could never hear me when we went out to eat...somebody had to translate...how funny! I'm with you sistah - I'm SO glad I'm not having to go through life like that!

I think I was in the middle. Not one of the most popular groups, but not in the nerd group. I wasn't much for joining things. Our school was very small with limited activities. We did have a basketball team, and some cheerleaders.

The cheerleaders were the popular kids. I was friends with some of them. Good friends with one of them, but yet often felt just a little like an outsider if there were more than a few of us together.

I see a few of these folks around town from time to time. With some you feel like you could spend quite some time catching up. With others after the "hi, how are you?" the conversation dies out.

I was myself. No special classification. Had a couple of close friends and some people in my class I couldn't even tell you their initials. One of the good things of moving around a lot and being an only child is that you learn not to have to rely on external validation -- I did my own thing, had fun for the most part, and if other people talked, who cared?

Absolute worst time of my life was from first grade through senior year of high school. The scars are deep, and the aftereffects are never far from the surface.

Oh, poor TC! Kids can be just brutal to each other. I hope you get better FAST - you're sounding down in the dumps....we need our TC back! Here - - chicken soup...or beer...whichever.
