Default What Will Happen to All Those Unsold H2s?

(Another SUV bashing thread, caution is advised)

Sales of the Hummer H2, the muscular poster child for the SUV craze, have fallen for seven consecutive months because of rising gas prices and changing automotive tastes. The St. Petersburg Times recently asked, "What will happen to all those unsold and unloved Hummers now that the fad has passed?"

Here is how five artists imagined the answer.

I vote for H2 Henge. In 2000 years visitors to the sight will wonder about us.

A little OT, but amusing.

Several years ago the freighter "Mercedes" ran aground on the coast of Palm Beach. After it was dragged off the beach, it was impounded since the owner couldn't pay for all of the fines associated with environmental damage, and was then donated to the Broward county artifical reef program. The ship was sunk off Ft. Lauderdale much to the chagrin of the Palm Beach officials who had lobbied for it as well. Soon after the "Mercedes" was placed on the bottom, a wealthy patron donated an item to the Palm Beach program - a Rolls Royce automobile! So with much fanfare, the Rolls Royce was placed on the bottom off Palm Beach as a show of one-upmanship to the lowly "Mercedes" of Fort Lauderdale.

Pretty good story, CoralDoc.

Do you suppose that, if Ft. Lauderdale were to make an artificial reef of an H2, that Palm Beach would make one of an H1?

I love HummerHenge. I keep staring at it trying to see if it's trying to spell something.

Anyone remember "This is Spinal Tap?"
