I used to be a Best Western Fan when I first started traveling to S2000 events because they had free WiFi early on. But over the years I have become an Hampton Inn's fan. One of the reasons that cemented that was the experience for a caravan of us to S2K Days 16 at Durango, Co. Several of us traveled from the Grand Canyon to Bryce National Park and arrived at the Hampton Inn in Springdale, UT on the west side of Zion Nationatol Park at about 10:35 PM. As we all had reservations the Desk Manager had all of us checked in in less than five minutes. When we asked if there was anyplace still open to get a bite to eat in Springdale? She told us about a place across the road that was opened to 23:00 (11:00) So we all agreed to forget about getting our luggage in favor of food. I was the first to arrive at the restaurant and rushed in to explain that a party of thirteen was about to arrive. Only to discover that the Desk Manager from the Hampton Inn had already called them and they were just putting the place settings on the tables that they had arranged to accommodate the thirteen of us. Needless to state: That many of us sent great reviews to Hilton about that experience. I wish that I could remember the name of the Desk Manager but, I cannot.

To the greatest extent possible, I stick with the Marriott family of hotels. They have brands at every level that I will ever stay at. Only if there is no Marriott available or someone has made arrangements at a different hotel chain for an event will i try something else.

LaQuinta is hit or miss. If it is a newer property they seem to be OK.

Before we make reservations, we always pull the property up on Google's satellite view to see what condition it is in, and where it is (neighborhood)....

The knowledge comes from my participation in their awards program, Dave. If it wasn't for that, I would not have known either.

On our way to Florida every year we always stay at Hampton. The rooms are a good size and always clean. I use my VIP card and the points we accumulated paid for our stays this year. I get a 10% military discount and they are always close to decent restaurants not fast food junk.
