First it was toilet paper, now it is baby formula. What will be the next item that people will be panic buying caused by who knows what?

While it doesn't fall into the panic buying category I think this summer electricity will be in short supply. I am going to get some 5 gallon buckets and fill them with electrons just in case.

I just hope M&M's don't become scare. It will be a scary house if I don't get my daily chocolate.

Water . . . just saw it takes 2,000 gallons of water to grow enough cotton to produce one pair of jeans.

^In many parts of the country, extended drought has caused severe water shortages. While not causing panic buying, I think some localities will impose strict usage restrictions. Looking at you, California!

Yeah, here we are in California. The drought is real.....and scary! I think WW3 may start in South Asia over water supply -- and lack of it -- from Himalaya snow melt. (I guess this belongs in Politics.)

And lots of water to grow Almonds, one reason why California uses so much water these days.

Fertilizer may be the next important product that will be in short supply, threatening food supplies for the entire planet. Chemical fertilizer has been the only way that population growth has been sustained. I know fertilizer pricing is up 300%, but it is also in short supply from what I've been reading.

Diabetes drug Ozempic apparently an issue. I got contacted by my pharmacy (Kroger) this morning that they could not get the drug from the manufacturer and did not know when or if it would be in stock.

The monkey pox isn't far from me. SO scary. although pretty sure i had small pox vaccine as a kid.
I would think that California would should be dedicating a huge amount of renewable energy into water desalination and purification.

AC has enabled millions to live in inhospitable places across the southwest, like Las Vegas, where they basically have limited or no water.
El Paso has a huge population but no potable water.
They draw off of wells of brackish water and desalinate it but relying on underground aquifers is a tenuous proposition.
Assuming climate trends continue in the same direction, its going to get worse not better.

I'll guess that with the megadrought in the midwest, grains like wheat, soybeans and corn might become scarce.

Scoots make sure you put ESD labels on your plastic buckets of electrons. That could be very exciting.
