The worst oil filter ever

I used Fram filters for years. Thankfully a few years back a MG friend said he was impressed how much better the WIX filter was at sealing and I switched to WIX. Apparently we made the right choice.

Yeah I saw a similar thing a few years ago. Not a youtube video, but a guy on a forum cut one up and compared them. The Frams are shockingly poorly made.

Wow! I always held Fram higher. I guess that will change.

I once owned a 1989 Toyota pickup with the 22r-4 engine that needed a new rod bearing due to a Fram filter. The 22r-4 engine had a side mounted filter housing that the filter screwed onto. I didn’t realize that at that time Fram filters had no anti-drain back valve. Each engine start was without oil pressure until the Fram filter was filled. I was told this fact only after I noticed the engine knocks at start-up. For some reason I thought they were good filters - it was after this incident and cutting one apart did I realized that Fram was pure junk.

Since then Fram filters have been off of my shopping list. Maybe they have improved, but I don’t care. :angry2:

I always used Fram. Disappointed.

Well they are good at marketing at least !

Probably no worse than the British Leyland OEM cartridge filters, and at least the Fram's screwed on.

I always order Amsoil filters with Amsoil motor oil directly from Amsoil.

Rrounds has posted a number of times with images from filters he takes apart. As a result of his posts, I have become a fan of K&N filters for my Tacoma and Jeep. OEM for my Acuras and S2000. I have noticed the Honda filters I get for the Acuras are now made in the USA. I have seen some YouTube videos taking apart non-S2000 filters and they appear to be the FRAM garbage. May switch out.
