Default WW2 quiz

Who is the soldier sitting on the right? Hint: his uniform belies his rank.

My gut wants to say Eisenhower, but the person looks too young to be a 50+ year old.

Can't be Eisenhower. Don't recall he going incognito to be among the troops. The face looks familiar. My initial guess would be Jimmy Stewart.

Nope. Not Big Bill or Ike. Hint: one of the few commanders to be in the PTO (where this photo was taken) and the ETO.

That was another clue.. that looks like a Jungleish/Pacific forest setting and I don't believe Ike was there.

On the right, Major General J. L. Collins, commander of the 25th Division and, on the left, Major Charles W. Davis, commanding the 3rd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment confer on New Georgia, August 14, 1943.

Most correct! I was looking for "Lightning" Joe Collins. Quite a distinguished family.

You sure it wasn't Bill Clinton (maybe his dad)?
