I need to work on getting my upper set replaced. Hybrid Denture is the preferred solution. Then, work on my lower set and get it straightened out. Initial costs were astronomical (dentist doesn't take insurance) , so looking for those who do, to try to mitigate the cost.

Patty, if you have already had your dental work done today, I hope it went well.

If you haven't had it done yet, I hope it goes smoothly!

Hope you can update us.

^Thank you, Sue. Yes, I went in just before 8 AM and am doing well now, at 3 PM. My sister drove me and is hanging out with me for another night. She likes getting away from her nutty dog and playing with her photo editing of her new granddaughter, uninterrupted, too.

I took a two hour nap as soon as I got home and woke up with something on my lips. My selfies make me laugh.

^I can't get any photos to add. Maybe later.

I'm glad to hear that everything went well, Patty.

Is the implant done later? If so, when?

I'm glad that your sister is staying with you, and that you can hang out together for a little bit.

(How old is her new granddaughter?)

I forget when the implant part is started but it's 3 to 6 months out. Her granddaughter, Elizabeth, was was born on January 2nd so she's 2 1/2 months old.

I didn't realize that the implant would be so far in the future. Does the implant involve lots of visits?

If Elizabeth was born on January 2, wouldn't she be only 1 1/2 months old?

I have 3 implants as a result of kissing the wooden steering wheel in an MGA when an young driver pulled out in front of me without any warning. At the time I just had lap belts in the car. I now have 3-point belts in my current MGA. Like Gene it was a drawn out affair that required bone grafting, that turned out to be a really good thing and it cured almost all my sinus issues. I'm very happy that I had it done. They didn't cost me anything as insurance picked up the tab. I think everyone's situation is different. Just be sure you go to real specialist is the best advice I can share.

good thing insurance covered the cost. I will start my procedure this coming week. 3 implants on the upper left (#12, 14 & 15). Need a sinus lift on 2 of them. Will be about 6 to 8 months before crowns can be put in. Cost to me will be over $8 grand for the oral surgeon, then have to have crowns done. A bridge form 12 to 14 and then a single on 15.

Above the upper teeth are your sinus cavities, as you move back in the mouth the amount of bone between your sinus cavities and the roots of the teeth decreases. The oral surgeon goes thru the bone layer and nudges up the sinus membrane and then deposits the grafting material to grow more bone.
