After talking to my dentist's office about crown vs. implant crown prices and throwing out there that the oral surgeon gave me a 10% discount, I was told by two women that they'd take my phone number and ask. Then another woman came over and told me that Dr. McArtor's prices were already low so they didn't offer discounts for cash even though the Dr ate the credit card charges. I said, that if that was the case I'd just use my Visa and get some Amazon points instead of using a check. I received a call back a couple of days later and they WILL offer me a 5% discount for a check. Also, your implant crown price was right in the ball park with my dentist's Gene. It is higher than a regular crown. I'm still looking for the paper I was writing on when they called and I was in my car, but I believe the price was brought down to just under $2000 for the implant crown if I pay with a check. Come August, I'll have to shell that out.

Forget Dave. One of the two implants I am having next week is the molar on the opposite side from yours. Then I have another one smack in the lower front. Dentist was not sure he could do an implant on the front one, but apparently after a scan he can, so that is good. The downside of course is cost - about $5K each. It is a bit more for the crown ($2720) than the implant ($2280).
Of course that would not be enough. Getting ready to end my Invisalign mid Feb. That was another $5000. But hey, what is money for than to spend it! The big difference between the dentist and regular docs is that my medical insurance is covering about 95% of all of my recent surgical/medical care. The dental insurance works out to about 10%.
