Never really thought of this as a problem but my wheels have "black spots" on certain areas. I guess its just brake dust or road grime thats been "etched" into the wheel? i usually just wiped the wheels when they were dry but these days i've been actually washing them. the thing is, the black stuff will no longer come off no matter how hard i scrubb. Any suggestions? Thanks

yes-
first, be careful not to scratch the clear coat on your wheels...
and find a wheel product that is non-acid.
also be sure to protect the wheels (when you wax or synthetic coat the car, do the same to the wheels).

Ill definitly check this out. Do you know if there is a huge difference between the gel and the regular spray? The grime on my wheels have been there for awhile now. thanks again...

nope- i have not used the gel.
by the way, to really get those wheels clean, take them off and do the insides (the side facing the car) too!!!
when i had the wheels off to paint the calipers i could not believe how bad the insides looked- did a quick clean only.

I use an old toothbrush and a touch of WD-40 to remove road grime that is "stuck" on to the wheels. Works like a charm.

I wash the wheel afterwards to remove any of the WD-40 residue.

If all else falls, try some steel wool with a fine synthetic compund, I know it sounds nuts but the synthetic ompund protects from scratching the wheel as well as removing brake dust from ages ago.
