be sure to get before and afters and post em up.

main tip is not to use lotsa pressure, and its the brushes and cleaners that do the work. also stay away from acid based cleaners if possible.

the most simple way to do it, that i've found is...

1. cover electrical components.
2. spray the entire engine bay with an entire bottle of gunk foaming engine degreaser. (the non foaming stuff does not remove dirt and grime as well as the foaming version, and yes i said the entire bottle)
3. using med pressure spray the engine compartment.
4. while the engine is still wet, spray a thin layer of foaming armor all.
5. remove the bags/rags that was used to cover the electrical components.
6. start the car and let it idle for 15-20 minutes.
7. stare at how clean your engine bay is.

i normally do the engine first, then wash the exterior.

also, make sure no water gets into the intake box. or if you have an aftermarket CAI, make sure to cover the filter, and not let it get wet.

This is the way I do it. The other thread Slanguage posted though is the true Wacko way to do it though. CD2 Engine Dressing can be pretty hard to find these days though, but you can substitute it with a vinyl/plastic dressing. Tire foam I understand actually works pretty well.

Personally, I try not to use Gunk. It's pretty strong stuff and it's usually more powerful than what most engines need. Unless there's caked on burnt oil or years and years worth of dirt an APC or something like Meguiar's Safe D-Greaser has more than enough cleaning power.
