Default first time clay bar question

This will be the first time I use a clay bar on my car.
- I wash & dry my car first.
- Do the clay bar.
- Should I rewash the car before applying a wax (Meguire's techwax 2.0) to remove the claybar lubricant? or can I just go straight to the techwax? I think the clarbar comes with "Quik Detailer" spray. I wasnt sure if I can apply the tech wax over this.
Thank you in advance.

no need to rewash the car... though i know people like to, i feel it's not necessary.

the quick detailer spray is your clay lubricant. make sure you are using a microfiber towel to wipe the quick detailer spray off, otherwise you will get streaking.

wax "over" quick detailer spray is fine. i say "over" because typical quick detailer spray isn't really applying anything to the paint.

i also use dawn on the first wash before the claybar, it is abrassive and removes anything excess. i do wash after clay bar, i am kind of a perfectionist

Thanks for the feedback!
I was reading on a few postings that 1/2 of a 50g clar bar would be good for the whole car. Does this sound right? 1/2 of a 50g bar is going to be a small piece of clay. How long does it typically take to do a whole car?
Another thing - I dont think I understand the claybar basics. If I'm rubbing a claybar across a surface with slight particles, won't these particles scratch the clearcoat when I drag the claybar along the surface? One the particles are in the claybar, how do you continue to use it?
Thanks

i don't know what 50g is, but i'm assuming you bought a claymagic or mother's kit.

usually you just want to use half of the clay bar, so in the event that you drop that piece, you'll have half the clay bar left.

you always want to fold the clay after you are done with a section. if there are large particles, pick them out with your finger nail. you never want to use dirty clay. if it touches the floor, its dirty. you want to keep folding it so that you have a clean surface to work with.

try taking a look at the stickies for more info

Half a bar will work for the entire car as long as you re-mold it fairly often to keep the contaminants away from the paint.

I usually polish right after claying unless I leave some pretty significant residue. Polishing will remove the reminants of the clay so I'm not really that worried about it unless the car was in REALLY bad shape.
