Sounds correct, even though I prefer 303 protectant. Make sure the protectant is fully dry before buffing with the M/F towel and you are done.

just gave it a go today, i might've done the final buff a bit too early but other than that everything went great.

now it's time to tuck that softtop back down and rock the hardtop again lol.

Actually, WD-40 is a very poor lubricant. Its primary function is as a penetrating oil and dessicant. You use WD-40 to free-up stuck parts but then use a real lubricant (dino, synthetic, silicone, etc.) when reassembling.

If you count on the WD-40 residue as a lubricant you are asking for trouble.

BUT, having said all of that, it's really NOT for vinyl tops. Not only won't it work well, it will probably stain unevenly (unless you use a lot) and will probably smell really awful for a long time. Even if it actually worked either as a cleaner or protectant (which it doesn't), the persistent smell of WD-40 in my car would spoil the driving experience.

That's a big NO to WD-40 on rag tops.

You can spray the cleaner directly. It's not going to harm anything else and you're going to wash the rest of the car anyway. I'd recommend a brush rather than a sponge for cleaning the top.

I used car soap, Raggtop cleaner and protector.
1. Soap the top with car soap and scrub the dirt off with brush and rinse off with water!
2. spray the raggtop cleanner and scrub with brush then rinse with water.
3. finally let the top dry and spray raggtop protector.

You can find 303 on Amazon and local boat store/supply places. Commonly used to protect vinyl boat material.

Good stuff but I go with the manufacturer recommendation for RaggTopp. I have used it now for 5 years and have no complaints. I have heard of a filmy runoff from 303 but I have not had that with Raggtopp.

I noticed the 303 was listed for use on both fabric and vinyl tops. I don't think a one size fits all is the way to go here. The OEM top we have is vinyl manufactured to resemble a cloth top.

Modifry has it too; pick up his elastic straps while you are at it.
