Meguiar's Vinyl and Rubber Protectant
...and now am having "hesitations"...but it was only $10 so I jumped on it.

I have some general purpose cleaner I picked up from my local detailing supplier: http://www.majesticsolutionsinc.com/tidalwave.html (1/5 diluted ratio), which I am told will clean my top just fine, and have been in need of a protectant. Was going to head downtown to a conv. top repair shop and pick up some 303 cleaner and protectant, but went in today and the salesman talked me into the Meguiars Flagship Premium Vinyl & Rubber Protectant. Looks like it's designed for boats and marine equipment, but I was wondering if any has ever used this on the top? Think it's okay or should I just go buy some 303 and call it a day?

The product won't "hurt" the top at all, so if you like it - use it.
However, it's not designed for convertible tops like RaggTop of 303 and as such doesn't have quite the same composition. If it were my top, I would use that product on other parts of a daily driver or the wife's car, etc and pick up some 303 or RaggTop for the S. But, like I said, the Meguiar's won't "hurt" the top if used sparingly.

Meg's protectant is a wonderful product. I use it on my dash, rubber moldings, and plastic fittings. Gives a nice dark sheen to the material and nice to know you're applying a UV protectant also. However, I never tried using it on my vinyl top. Just seemed wrong. I'm looking for a place that sells 303 for that.

I used it on the dash yesterday...maybe Im not applying it right but it did seem to leave some streaking. I re-applied 3 times to remove the streaks, but there are still a few blotchy spots :/

I has some very mild streaking problems with Meguiar's #40 (after cleaning with #39 first). IIRC, it went away after the 2nd application. Is it noticeable an hour later?

it kinda "dried" up but I drove the S to work this morning and I have 1 "dry" blotch and a "wet" blotch on top of the dash. I might just clean and re-condition with 303 and give this stuff to my buddy who has a boat :/ It might just be user error too
