need some expertise....how to properly clean engine bay?
can someone with some knowledge in this area kinda put a "how to" here....I would like to see how some of you clean your engine bay step-by-step...thanx everyone:)

how i clean mine, or how i clean others?
o.k.- both: mine: as i did this morning, i first wash the car and dry it... i use big blue on most of the car, but for the insides of the doors, trunk and hood i use another soft towel- i do the under-hood last. by then, that rag is damp. i then use it to wipe out all areas of the engine compartment. after that i use 303 or other products to shine up the hoses, etc. after 3.5 years, my engine compartment looks like it did the day i bought the car. others: (assuming that they werent kept as mine is) if its an older car with a distributor, cover the distributor with plastic. spray on a citrus based engine cleaner... let it sit a couple minutes, then agitate with a long handled brush and rinse off. repeat if necessary. spray hoses with 303 and rub down and dry the engine compartment. hope that helps! |
yep...thanx buddy...just wanted to see if any of you had any "special" ways that you did yours......seems like everyone does it pretty much the same on the S....thanx again:)

I was on another honda forum the other day and someone said they just sprayed tyre foam in there, and left it. Did nothing, the pic looked great, just going to find it :)

damn...anyone else try that foam tire thing? It seems a little strange...won't it get all sticky and stuff?
|
I ditto Wanabe to the "T", maintenance is the key here. Make it a part of your regular cleaning regiment and you won't ever HAVE to do a huge scrub job.
I tried the tire-foam trick on my sister's car a while ago when I detailed it for her as she was trying to sell it. I did do a full cleaning of it first which made a world of difference, I would only reserve this trick as a "show" thing, still makes me a little nervous and I don't like that the stuff gets EVERYWHERE (paint, windows, etc). So for me...no, that won't ever be used on my S, just weekly wiping :) Travis |
