Default Paint Protection Film

Hi guys,

I'm currently planning to install PPF on my S. I called shops around my area(LA), most of them charge me average $5,000, which is including paint correction, touch up and PPF(some of them will also included basis grade ceramic coat.).
Would you guys think that the price is make sense? Is it worth to do it?

I installed XPEL ultimate on my entire front clip nearly 10 years ago and I can say it was the best choice I ever made. Having a black car can be challenging to say the least but not having to worry about chips or swirl marks on most of the car has been incredible.

The quotes of $5000 seem on the high side though. Is this quote for the entire car? If so, yes this would be nice to have but for most of us, the standard hood, bumper, fenders, mirrors + pieces behind the tires is more than enough. This should be around $1400 as I had a large sport utility done with Xpel recently and this was the price. This pricing could also vary between areas and it may be worth driving somewhere further.

$5K is about right, in California, for a paint correction, PPF, and ceramic coating from a reputable vendor, for an entire S2000.

You can do it yourself but just like painting, all the work is in the preparation. Paint correcting/chips aside, you will need to polish out any swirl marks, clay the car, and put down a ceramic coating. You can get good quality PPF like Expel or 3M. There is a trick to install it, however the size of the S2000 lends itself to a one man show. I think you can do the front end and leave the doors, trunk and rear quarters alone if you want. It takes a lot of patience slowly working out compound curves but there is a learning curve. Watch some videos and/or go by a shop to see for yourself.

$5000 for the whole car sounds about right, but you can do the front end (bumper/hood/mirrors). I've done this myself many times- its a steep learning curve, however. Shop supplies for the front end only for 3M PPF is about $300 USD. I expect a pro will charge a several hundred for installation. YYMV.
