i didn't really notice this until i wash the car and really took a close look at it. the previous owner use an un-match paint as a touch up paint for a 1/8 in paint chip area. you can't really tell if you are not very close. however, this bothers me. does anyone know how to remove the un-match paint without too much trouble.

when it comes to stuff like that, I seek the professionals.. I'd get quotes from 3 or so bodyshop's specializing in paint matching

It may not be that the previous owner used the wrong paint code. It is very hard for any touch up paint (in a tube with the little brush) to completely hide a chip. Afterall, the touch up paint is new and the stuff on your car is not. If you have to look that closely to actually be able to tell, is it really worth worrying about it?
That having been said, the best way to make a chip "disappear" is to use matched paint in a spray can or to use airbrushing. Then it's still a complicated series of steps involving wet sanding, rubbing compound, polishing compound, power buffing, waxing. |
my opinion:
use the right touch-up paint and try it yourself (first do a search on how to do this right- lots of posts). then if that doesnt make you happy take it to the body shop. |
1/8" is a good size chip,I'd take it in to be fixed.

the touch up paint is very bright yellow. it's not the same as the spa yellow pearl. i took a second look at it from afar and it's noticeable but it just doesn't stand out because it's on the bottom edge of the vehicle. i'm getting some touch up paint but wanted a way to remove the old one first. wet-sanding can be done. i'll get the stuff from one of the website that someone posted in here. so any suggestions on how to remove the old paint is greatly appreciated.
